In my work I am always seeking to express the essence of my own personal vision by delving beneath the surface. Striving to capture interactions of movement and energy by using strong energetic gestural mark making and expressionistic use of rich colour, I work primarily with water-based paint, ink and chalk pastels.

My work seeks responses to ‘echo soundings’ of earth and water, music and vibration, and the human form. Interest in concepts of silence, sound and vibration and how music, musicians and conductors interact during rehearsals and performances is a never-ending source of inspiration. Living in sight of the sea with all its many moods, the constant ebb and flow of the tide contrasting with the solid energies from cliffs and rocks that have stood as proud sentinels over millennia provides food for thought.

After training and working as a graphic designer in London for a number of years, relocation to west Wales provided the catalyst for me to commit fully to developing my painting and drawing career. I also became a student of Tai Ji, an ongoing study that informs my work and lifestyle on a daily basis.

Exhibiting my work regularly in the UK and abroad since 1993, I was elected to the Society of Women Artists (SWA) in 2012. Exhibiting regularly at the Mall Galleries with the SWA I have won both the St Cuthberts Award and the Frank Herring Award. Other awards include the Oppenheim-John Downes Memorial Award, Art Matters Open and Artsfest Fishguard. In 2020 I was elected to full membership of the Royal Watercolour Society of Wales (RWSW) – patron King Charles III.

Wide ranging publications and media coverage include The Guardian, Art Review, BBC1 and 2, HTV Wales, and ‘Post-War to Post-Modern: A Dictionary of Artists in Wales’.
