Robert Macdonald

Robert was born in Lincolnshire and now resides in Brecon, Mid Wales. He was educated at the London Central School of Arts and Crafts and the London Royal College of Art.


Robert trained as a journalist in New Zealand originally returning to the uk in 1958 . He then studied painting and printmaking. In 1960 one of his etchings was selected for an exhibition in the USA. His prints have been widely exhibited in the uk and internationally . Collections of his prints are held in public collections including the Victoria & Albert Museum.


Robert has become known for his watercolour paintings of landscapes farming and rural life and the myths and ledgends around his home in the Brecon beacons area. His Welsh watercolours have won him many awards.


He is a past chair of the Welsh group and in 2014 he was elected president of the Royal Watercolour Society of Wales. Robert is now a Honorary member of the society and still exhibits with society on a regular basis.
