Vicki Washbourne

Originally from the Towy valley in Carmarthenshire but now living and farming in the Glamorgan hills of the Garw valley. Both very contrasting landscapes which have greatly influenced my choice of subjects.

For the most part self taught, except for several winters of evening classes with Peter Cronin. Peters painting holidays in St.Nons ,Pembrokeshire were a delight and opened my eyes to all things of the sea and painting outside in front of the subject.

The majority of my paintings are plein air or developed in the studio from plein air sketches.Painting outside in Wales is often a challenge and  I strive to capture the ever changing moods of the weather and the essence of the scene in front of me. My style is constantly evolving and as I try to capture the essence of the subject the paintings are becoming looser and less detailed. Artists that have and continue to inspire me are Wesson,Ransom and Blockley.

I have been successful in reaching the final of Patching’s, Crickhowell and Cowbridge open art competitions. As a member of Cowbridge art society I have won the club watercolour competition several times.

My paintings can be seen in Nolton Art gallery, Bridgend and Oriel Mimosa ,Llandeilo. Additionally I sell privately on Facebook and Artfinder.
