RWSW MEMBER

Ruth Sargeant

With a degree from West Wales of the Arts achieved in 2009, I have exhibited frequently since and mainly throughout Pembrokeshire. Being elected to the RWSW in 2012 was a good fit as I work primarily with any material that has qualities of translucence.

With an intuitive response to the landscape, the result is always one of organic abstraction. Since completing an Ma module in art and archaeology in 2020 much of my work stems from utilising the movement of the wind and trees. Starting with marks made by pens attached to branches, I arrange the composition, and working with many layers, I manipulate the ink, to give up its constituent colours.
